Stray
Relief and Animal
Welfare (STRAW)
is a New
Delhi, India based
non profit organization that works
to
improve
the way
Animals
in general and
strays in particular,
are treated and
regarded
by society. Registered
in January 2002,
STRAW is recognized
by the
Animal
Welfare Board
of India.
STRAW
is largely a “supporting” organization that
acts as a link between
two groups
– animal welfare
organizations
and individuals
working at grassroots
levels with distressed
and suffering
stray animals
and YOU who aspire
to help but do
not know how to
go about it. STRAW
thus harnesses
the resources
in terms of
money, time and
skills of thousands
people and organizations, to enable a huge number of initiatives see the light of day.
STRAW believes in making children compassionate citizens of tomorrow. An awareness that animals are to be loved and cared for because they are a part of the same world where we belong is an important learning that STRAW imparts to little children at various schools. These humane education programs go a long way to bring about change in the way we treat our animals.
STRAW is entirely based on public financial support to run various programs through implementing organizations. Members who donate their time and expertise on a purely honorary basis look after the various activities. Strong values govern the way we work. Our purpose is to reach out and bring comfort to a significantly large number of distressed and suffering stray animals.
