On the 10th of April 2024, STRAW India is very proud to have conducted its first Compassionate Classroom Humane Education program at a school based in Hyderabad. The name of the school is Indic International School, Hyderabad and the title of the session was "How to Make Friends with Street Dogs." This session included learning the body language of dogs so that children could make friends with them and at the same time keep themselves safe from dog bites, etc.
About 100 students, ranging from Grade 2 to Grade 5 participated in this enlightening 45-minute session. The primary focus was on understanding the plight of street dogs, sowing seeds of compassion and empathy for them in the hearts of children and emphasizing the importance of co-existing harmoniously with our neighborhood dogs. The school children actively engaged in discussions and activities aimed at building rapport with street dogs, demonstrating their eagerness to help and support them.
The session proved to be both enjoyable and educational, providing valuable insights into compassionate living and instilling a sense of responsibility towards our furry companions.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation and a big thank you to Indic School Administration, for their unwavering support to promote empathy and compassion among their students. The most encouraging part of the session was when the principal herself, who also loves dogs, joined the students and made her own contributions to the session.
Here is a big Thank You to Help Animals India, USA, who support us to carry out these Humane Educations sessions in schools.
