Stray Relief and Animal Welfare (STRAW) is a non-profit organization that strives to accomplish animal welfare through the medium of education. Our mission is to plant seeds of compassion towards animals, empathy for people and care for the environment, in the hearts of every school going child.
Our Volunteer and Intern members together, form a part of a growing network of animal lovers who support STRAW’s mission and appreciate the important role that education can play in creating a more compassionate society. Our members believe that animal abuse and their ill treatment are deep rooted in the cultural and social mind-sets of the people and these require fundamental changes in how people think about their relationship with the animals as well as the environment.
If you care for animals and other creatures that we share this earth with and would like to contribute your efforts that could have a multiplier effect in building a compassionate society in India, come join us as a volunteer or an intern. You would be involved in teaching school children compassion towards animals; empathy towards people and care for the nature. You could also help us in other supportive activities such as creating content on humane education topics that would in turn find place in school textbooks, brought out by the various state educational boards in India.
Activities that you could get involved at STRAW as a volunteer or an intern are:
