In Dr. Nelson Mandela words, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” We believe that this very powerful weapon is the key to reducing if not completely eliminating cruelty towards animals.
In a country like India, where many animals are worshipped like Gods and where vegetarianism is a way of life for a major segment of the population, cruelty to animals comes as a rude shock.
The big question is, WHY? And the answer lies in lack of awareness among vast sections of our society that animals are sentient beings and feel pain just as much as we humans do.
In this kind of a milieu, the good news is that it’s easy to explain and convince people about the need to be empathetic and compassionate towards animals. Since children have a natural curiosity and compelling fondness for animals, it is easier for them to imbibe more compassionate and peaceful practices and beliefs. Therefore, simple messages could be communicated to children, leading to the growth of a generation that is empathetic to people, kind to animals and cares for the environment. All this is possible across the length and breadth of India through humane education.
