Maitreyi College, New Delhi invited STRAW India to judge one of their events titled "Luck-O-Craft" at their annual fest, Economiska '19. at the event, students were to play a game of snake and laddar and depoending on the marks obtained, had to pick up waste items like plastic bottles, plastic ropes, empty coconut shells, plastic paper, etc. and create useful items with them. Two art experts, Aakshat Sinha who is a fine art professional and an art curator and Dorothy Ghosh who also creates fine art and at the same time runs a sanctuary for injured and disabled stray dogs, helped us with judging the event. Certificates of Merit and Participation from STRAW were also given out.
STRAW's Managing Trustee, Vasanthi Kumar also spoke to about a hundred students about the need for giving up one-time-use plastic items like plastic STRAWS, bottled water, plastic cups, etc. at the college campus. The students listened with rapt attention and at the end of the talk, pledged to give up #one-time-use-plastic-items at a personal level and promised to bring down the level of their use, at the campus.
