STRAW India was call up on to sensitize school going children about kindness to animals in a workshop organized by Anu Malhotra of the Sector B-2 / Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. It was organized at the Community Centre of the colony on 9th July 2016.
Nearly fifty children in the age group of 5 to 12 participated in a painting and drawing workshop wherein they learnt the following:
- That animals can feel pain as much as we human beings
- That animals are so much like us except that they are voiceless and are unable to express themselves.
- That we should be kind and compassionate to animals
- That the Golden Rule of “Do unto others what you want others to do to you” applies to animals too.
- How to avoid dog bites.
The best part of the event was that some of the parents also joined in and helped out in the session.
