STRAW India was honoured to be invited by the Department of Sociology, Barkatullah University, Bhopal, to conduct the Echoes of Compassion workshop for BA and MA students.
Through this session, we explored how animal rights are deeply connected to the core values of social work, justice, empathy, and responsibility. From the suffering of community animals to the silent pain of wild animals and the harsh realities of farmed animals, we took a deep dive into their lives and the laws that exist to protect them. The discussions were emotional, honest, and powerful. Students didn’t just listen, they felt.
The highlight of the day was when a student pledged to adopt a vegan lifestyle from that very moment, a conscious choice of turning awareness into action.
