On the occasion of World Elephant Day, STRAW India was warmly invited by N-Ed Merit Higher Secondary School, Bhopal to conduct our very first workshop on Elephants.
From Grades 1 to Class 12, students explored the world of elephants, learning how they are intelligent, sensitive, and deeply social beings. Together, we also uncovered the harsh realities:
- How humans have exploited them in circuses, joy rides, and tourist attractions.
- How deforestation and human greed have fueled human–elephant conflict.
- Why protecting forests is essential for harmony and coexistence.
A highlight of the day was seeing teachers actively joining their students in discussions, answering questions, and sharing reflections, making this session even more powerful. This workshop was not just about elephants, it was about rethinking our relationship with all of nature, and realizing that coexistence is the way forward.
