STRAW (Yukti Thakur, Preeti Singh) conducted an environment and humane education program on 5 of January at The Community Library Project - Agrasar, Sikandarpur, New Delhi.
The session was divided into two segments
1) The first one was to screen a movie to show how a street mongrel can be a great friend of a pet St. Bernard dog, thus showing to the viewers the little difference between them and that street dogs can also make great pets.
2) The second movie was about the way we discard plastic items and the kind of effect it has on the planet including animals.
Both these films was followed by a discussion on each topic.
The young readers of the library were bright, enthusiastic, lively and receptive. Their thoughts, notions, ideas made the session very interactive and engaging. They feel sensitive towards animals and birds and eager to learn how they can help any animal/ bird in distress. Young minds were also very well versed with the harmful effects of use of plastic and eager to know how they can reduce and reuse the plastic.
The session concluded with a nice song and dance to pledge to reduce use of plastic.
Overall, it was a super fun, engaging experience to interact with bright young readers.
