As summer is fast approaching, our Compassionate Classroom Program was, Caring for Community Animals During the Summer Season.
The program organized jointly by STRAW India and Yellow Streets, an NGO that educates children in the local community of Sarita Vihar in New Delhi, saw active participation from over 50 children in the age group of 8 to 12. Through engaging DIY activities like water pot painting and informative sessions, children developed a heightened awareness of the challenges faced by stray dogs during the summer season.
This hands-on experience not only nurtured empathy towards animals but also fostered a sense of responsibility among participants towards the well-being of the community’s four-legged inhabitants. The children were also taught to recognize the body language of dogs so that they can understand them and keep themselves safe.
Moving forward, the program aims to continue educating children about animal welfare issues and implement sustainable initiatives to support community animals in the long term.
